When does the season begin?
Our season runs from August 18th through the end of October. U4, our mini-kickers division, is a 6 week program (see next question), whereas the others are 8 weeks.
Can you provide additional information regarding the mini-kickers U4 division this year?
This is the 3rd year we are running the U4 mini-kickers division. It’s being run by our friends at Challenger Sports. It will run for 6 weeks, beginning on August 19th.
Your time commitment is 1 hour on either Saturday or Sunday (day TBD). Generally, the team will practice for 40 minutes, and scrimmage or have some team game for the last 20 minutes. There are no practices during the week, like our other divisions.
Game times will most likely be held in the 9am-noon time frame.
What day are games held on and where?
Games are held on Saturdays, approximately 9am-3pm. Games are approximately 1 hour long.
All games are played at Fish Hill.
What nights are practices held on and where?
Coaches determine the practice nights and times. This won’t be decided until we establish our list of coaches. This occurs in the July timeframe. Your child’s coach will relay this information to you in the early August timeframe.
Practices are not played at Fish Hill, except Fish Hill Softball Side. This is to help maintain the quality of our playing fields. The majority of the practices are held at facilities throughout Coventry, such as Hunters Crossing, and Colonial Acres, for example.
What’s the difference between your Developmental/Recreational program and your Competitive Program?
The Developmental programs emphasis is on fun and getting children interested in playing the game of soccer. All children fitting our age groups are welcome to our Developmental program. All children who register will make a team.
The Competitive program is for the soccer player who is perhaps a bit more serious about the sport and may wish to play year round. Our competitive program generally runs from Fall-Spring. Skill level ranges from premier level play to entry-level play. We do our best to allow all of our Competitive players to play on a team, but in some cases, not every player will make a team
Are there any tournaments this year for the Developmental program, such as the Target Cup?
Yes. The Target Cup (formerly known as the Kohl’s Cup). It is free and optional, but suggested, tournament for CSA. More information will be provided about this at a later date.
Any additional changes being made for the 2018 season?
In 2016, US Youth Soccer has switched to birth year to identify a child’s playing group (U14, U12, etc…). You can read more about this here:
In 2016, CSA may move away from co-ed in our U5 and U6 divisions, and placed the boys and girls into their own age groups respectively (BU5, BU6, GU5, GU6). This was very well received, and we plan on continuing this going forward.
